I just chop them 16 into small pieces, but some people like to chop them 17 into rings instead. Do whatever you want (within limits). 18 ([Image](images/onion_sauce_onions_raw.jpg)) 19 + Fry onions on medium heat for 35-45 minutes. 20 Do not be tempted to turn up the heat - it is necessary 21 to fry them very slowly in order for them to turn brown 22 properly instead of just burning. I haven't 35 actually done this yet because I like the onion pieces, 36 but some people do it.
